THE MIDWINTER SHOWDOWN SET TO IGNITE NELSON’S WATERFRONT

This winter, the top of the South is set to heat up as The Midwinter
Showdown lands at The Boathouse Nelson on Saturday, July 4th, delivering a
powerful night of reggae, hip hop, and electronic bass culture right on the
water’s edge.

Headlining the event is Aotearoa hip hop legend King Kapisi, bringing his
unmistakable presence and legacy to the stage. In a rare and highly
anticipated return, it has been over 10 years since King Kapisi last
performed in Nelson, making this a must-see moment for fans across the
region.

Adding even more excitement to the night, King Kapisi and The Nomad will be
testing brand new, unreleased material on the crowd, giving attendees a
first taste of fresh sounds straight from the lab.

Joining him is The Nomad, widely regarded as one of New Zealand’s
electronic pioneers, alongside the dynamic lyrical force MC Antsman.
Together, this heavyweight lineup promises a genre-blending journey through
deep bass, conscious hip hop, dub textures, and dancefloor energy, a sound
that has become synonymous with Aotearoa’s underground music culture.

Supporting the bill is a strong lineup of local talent including Miss Meow,
Tunesifter, M_Phonik, and Will GT, showcasing the depth and diversity of
Nelson’s thriving bass scene.

Set against the stunning waterfront backdrop, The Boathouse Nelson provides

natural beauty of the region. With only 200 tickets available, this will be
