40 Years Below, a Fundraiser for the Brook Waimārama Sanctuary
Fifty-five years ago, Roger Lusby spent a year at Scott Base in Antarctica. On 1 July, he’s coming to The Boathouse to tell us what life was really like through stories, songs, poetry and photographs.
From repairing one of Sir Edmund Hillary’s old tractors to enduring months of isolation, bitter cold, and moments of extraordinary beauty, 40 Years Below offers a deeply personal glimpse into life at the bottom of the world. Roger’s stories are interwoven with a tribute to Sir Ernest Shackleton and the remarkable Endurance expedition.
Presented as a fundraiser for Brook Waimārama Sanctuary Trust, the evening promises humour, adventure, and a fascinating insight into one of the most remote places on Earth.
