From the 1940s The Boathouse has been one of Nelson’s main dance venues. Swing and Sway was the call of the crowd and a band played to a packed dance hall every Saturday night. Suppers were of oysters and crayfish and talcum powder was scattered on the floor to aid dancing but in high tides the boards still got wet!
More recently the hall has gained popularity on a Friday evening with bands from around the district, country and the globe hitting the stage.

The Storm damage of February 2018 allowed the perfect opportunity for some major renovations and also some major celebrations.
The Boathouse Society invites you to join us at The Boathouse Benefit Ball. Swing and Sway the Boathouse way once more!

Arrive at 6.30pm for bubbly and canapes on the brand new deck, followed by a sit down meal before being entertained by the Nelson Jazz Club Big Band late into the night.

Tickets $100pp
include canapes, bubbly or beer on arrival, complimentary wine on the table to begin (cash bar thereafter), plated main and platters of sweet treats.
