Ready to Rebuild, Re-homing and History

A rebuild subcommittee has been established, including some of the original Boathouse Society founders, using their knowledge of the rebuild in the early years of the society to make the best choices for the heritage building. The team are drawing up plans with Nelson Consulting Engineers, and You Build considering changes for future safety and sustainability.

Is is both overwhelming and exciting to see that work at The Boathouse is well underway. The team at You Build have started prepping the building to replace the entire floor.  Matt and his team are doing an awesome job and understand the need for speed and quality. Keep an eye on future blog posts for the work as it happens.

Moving and rescheduling bands, helping weddings find new venues and assisting at these new venues has been on the list of things that have kept us busy over the last six weeks. We have been blown away by the generosity of everyone and how understanding and patient people have been. One of our favourite ‘re-home’ stories is that of Belinda and Jeremy. After shrugging off a moment of sadness when her wedding venue was torn apart Belinda got on with things and worked with The Boathouse team to throw her dream wedding reception next door at the yacht club.   With the help of Nelson City Council, Boathouse function staff, Tanya Bedford, Simon Williams, Fez and Hop Federation the perfect party was thrown to celebrate a seaside wedding.  We look forward to Belinda and Jeremy joining us to celebrate our relaunch.

This and That have published a lovely article on Mr and Mrs Pooley here.
