Here’s your chance to taste extraordinary wine… and meet your local winemakers at the same time. Plus we’re back at The Boathouse Nelson this year! Always a fun and very popular two hours, tasting some of the finest wine produced in one of New Zealand’s most inspired wine regions; Nelson Tasman.

Make the most of this opportunity to support, and learn about, your local industry. Meet award-winning winemakers and taste excellent wines from across the Nelson Tasman region. And of course, complemented by local gourmet treats! (Mako – the dog – isn’t included sorry to say. ? You can catch him at his cellar door!)

Have a taste of all that is excellent about NZ wine, as the region produces a range of varieties exceptionally well across the two quite distinct sub wine regions of The Plains and The Hills with their own sub-climates and terroir. We’re home to some of New Zealand’s most inspired award winning wines, producing outstanding Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and aromatics, as well as an impressive mix of emerging varieties.

Here are some Nelson 2019 vintage did-you-know’s:
*We’ve upped our volume in tonnes this harvest by 36%, moving us to fourth largest wine producing region, above Central Otago. One of the largest increases across the regions.

*70% of the harvest volume in Nelson is Sauvignon Blanc, with 20% increase in harvest volume this year. A more elegant, restrained expression of this variety, displaying lovely texture and minerality alongside crisp, vivacious tropical fruit with fresh herbal nuances.

*The stars here are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay though our aromatics continue to climb the award and tonnage ladder as do some exciting emerging varieties.
