The floorboards have started to be replaced in The Boathouse! The Boathouse Society and Nelson Consulting Engineers are conservatively re-using any old boards that are fit for purpose. Any new boards will come from Logs 2 Lumber. In 2014 Cyclone Ita caused serious damage when it hit the West Coast, knocking over 20,000 hectares of forest and damaging another 200,000. A rebuild subcommittee has been established, including some of the original Boathouse Society founders, using their knowledge of the rebuild in the early years of the society to make the best choices for the heritage building.
